You could say that Abraham Lincoln loved "Our American Cousin," a farce by Englishman Tom Taylor, too much. It turned out to be a fatal attraction for Lincoln, who saw it several times, the last on April 14, 1865, when John Wilkes Booth came in from the back of his box and fatally shot the nations's 16th president with a pistol. Lincoln died nine hours later.

Lincoln won't be represented on stage at Lincoln Amphitheatre this summer, but "Our American Cousin" will.
