Legislation making it easier to open charter schools in Indiana might not have the same impact in Evansville as elsewhere, because many school choices already exist here, local educators said.

The bill, favored by Gov. Mitch Daniels and Superintendent for Public Instruction Tony Bennett, cleared the Indiana House of Representatives on Tuesday in a 59-37 vote. It now moves to the Senate.
