For a third time, the Indiana News Photographers Association has recognized Courier & Press photographer Denny Simmons as Photographer of the Year.

The association, composed of news photographers from across the state, announced winners of its annual photo competition Saturday at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. Judges for the hundreds of entries were Julie Jacobson, Associated Press staff photographer; Kendra Stanley-Mills, staff photographer for the Muskegon Chronicle; and Scott Strazzante, staff photographer for the Chicago Tribune.
