The big story 100 years ago this week (1910) involved the death in Connecticut of Mark Twain. The famous humorist died of a heart attack. He had suffered depression following the tragic death of his daughter and the loss of other old-time friends. Born Samuel Clemens in 1835, a year HalleyOs Comet appeared, he had correctly predicted he would die the next time the comet showed up, which it did only weeks before his passing.
