With all the cool, rainy weather we've had this summer, we have seen large amounts of fungal diseases on a wide variety of landscape and garden plants: apple scab and rust on crabapples, blight on tomatoes and powdery mildew on nearly everything.
One of the best ways to protect our gardens from disease next year is to practice good sanitation this fall. Leaving dead plants and plant parts in the garden will provide a wonderful place for these diseases to overwinter. If we should have another wet year next spring, we could see disease pressure even worse than this year, what with all the fungus spores lying around.See the full content of this document
