Editor's note: For 30 years Joe Aaron banged out more than 7,000 of his 750-word "Morning assignment" columns, touching readers with his "I'm one of you" affection and humor. Since his death from a heart attack in the newsroom in 1986, readers have asked when the paper would rerun some of Joe's work.
