In 2005, after years of sending money to a church they'd adopted in Haiti, parishioners at St. Joseph Catholic Church in northwestern Vanderburgh County ramped up their involvement.

So missionary trips began, usually a dozen or so people twice a year, supporting a school with 700 students, building a chapel, delivering shoes, replacing roofs and breathing new life into a medical clinic at St. James Parish in the northern coastal city of Plaine du Nord.
