Summary
Four giant pictures adorn the walls of the historic Lawrenceville High School gymnasium. They are photos of the school's Illinois Class A state championship teams: 1972, 1974, and the Marty Simmons- led champions of 1982 and 1983, a state-record stretch of 68-0 perfection that has never been equaled.
Since then, the Indians have enjoyed only sporadic success... some ups, more downs, and only one trip to the state tournament, in 1996. Eight coaches have tried to rekindle the program. For some, those giant pictures have been more albatross than monument.See the full content of this document
