When the Evansville African American Museum hosted a tour this week for about 35 corporate donors and supporters, museum founder and President Sondra Matthews noticed a common refrain among the guests.

As they strolled through the recently installed exhibits and glanced at the many educational signs and display cases, no one could believe how the museum, which began installing major exhibits this year, had so quickly become a top-notch facility.
