Evansville Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel says that if the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency toughens limits on ozone pollution, then he would propose an easing of the guidelines for when to issue ozone alerts.

Courier & Press staff writer Mark Wilson reported Monday that the EPA is expected to establish new, tighter standards for ozone pollution on Wednesday. The new limits could be somewhere between 70 and 80 parts per billion averaged over eight hours, compared with the current limit of 85 parts per billion.
