Summary


Electricity was shut off Friday afternoon at Evansville's River House Hotel amid a dispute between two ownership groups, driving residents out of their apartments on the hottest day of the year.

Some of the approximately 80 residents of the former hotel, which is now used for apartments, were spending Friday night at the American Red Cross Southwestern Indiana Chapter headquarters, 29 S. Stockwell Road, near the Lloyd Expressway.
