The names are changed to protect the innocent, but I am noticing an ominous trend in Windows computing, at least in the Windows machines I see in my repair business.

Folks will call with virus-riddled machines, and eight times out of 10 they will have either no anti-virus protection or a product that is years out of date. While I (and my college-bound son) will gladly take the money needed to clean up a disaster of epic proportions, I remain puzzled about this for a couple of reasons.
