Summary


I remember the summer the world turned wrong.

Northfield was the kind of young neighborhood that contained a boy or two or three in every house. Around the corner and across the street was an elementary school. Behind the building and beyond the blacktop courts we used for recess was a baseball diamond with a backstop. And we gathered there two or three times a week, on average. Most of us had a mitt or two, several of us had a bat, and someone always had a ball.
